Michael Kavanagh is Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. He has significant expertise acting in large and complex disputes before the Commercial Court and other divisions of the High Court.

Michael has significant experience handling complex, high stakes disputes before the Commercial Court and other divisions of the High Court.

He is among Ireland's most highly regarded litigation and dispute resolution lawyers and large corporates and multi-nationals regularly seek out his expertise to assist in the following areas:

Michael has served on the Litigation Committee of the Law Society of Ireland since 2003 and was Chairman of the Litigation Committee from 2009 - 2011.  He serves as a Law Society nominee on the Superior Court Rules Committee.

He chaired the Law Society’s working group that wrote the report Discovery in the Electronic Age – Proposals for Reform.  Michael has published articles on a wide range of issues and recently authored an article for the Sunday Independent.

  • Acted for large corporate entity for breach of contract in a property /town centre development claim in the Commercial Court.
  • Acted in various Commercial Agency disputes in the commercial division of High Court.
  • Acted in a range of Insurance and Professional Negligence claims.
  • Acting in a substantial dispute in the Commercial division of the High Court in relation to the provision of a wireless broadband network.
  • Acting for a number of financial institutions in a range of matters relating to disputes with customers and agents.
  • Acting in the prosecution and defence of claims in the High Court against professionals including solicitors, architects, valuers and accountants.
  • Acting in a numbers of claims involving fraud.
  • Acting in a number of High Court cases involving intellectual property and Information Technology.
