Our leading Intellectual Property team has a wealth of experience advising on all aspects of intellectual property, both contentious and non-contentious, including trade marks, passing off, copyright, patents, designs, trade secrets and database rights.
We work with domestic and international clients across a diverse range of industries, including technology, pharmaceuticals and medical products, financial services, food and food services, consumer goods and services (including luxury goods) and media and entertainment.
Our established trade marks team assists businesses and brands with brand creation, registration, maintenance and enforcement and manages a large number of well-known trade mark portfolios for clients. The team includes three practitioners who are Registered Trade Mark and Design Agents.
We also have extensive experience working with clients to identify and formulate strategies for securing and commercialising IP assets, including advising on complex intellectual property licensing arrangements; R&D collaboration agreements; and international franchise agreements.
Our team frequently advises clients in the media and entertainment sector in respect of rights issues relating to music, film and television projects, from development stage through to production and distribution and beyond.
In the patent-dependent sectors of pharmaceutics, biotechnology, medical devices, life sciences and manufacturing our lawyers help clients with compliance and challenges to IP rights in these highly regulated sectors.
We routinely help our clients to devise and implement programs to tackle counterfeiting, piracy, screen-scraping, cyber-squatting, spamming and other infringing acts. We prosecute and defend challenges and disputes and regularly take enforcement actions against infringers.
