David advises Irish and international clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. He is also a member of the firm’s Energy and Natural Resources team and has been involved in a number of wind energy, infrastructure, oil and gas projects. Chambers Guide describes him as being “highly capable and proactive with notable expertise in the energy sector”.

David has worked on large, high profile and complex transactions in Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America. His experience includes advising on mergers & acquisitions, shareholder arrangements, venture capital, private equity transactions, commercial agreements and corporate restructurings. He has advised on a range of company law matters and is a member of the Law Society of Ireland’s Task Force on the introduction of the Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive.

Prior to joining LK Shields, David worked at international law firms in London and Dublin.

Experience

  • Advising on a wide range of corporate transactions including M&A, venture capital, shareholder arrangements and joint ventures in a variety of sectors including energy, financial services, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and technology.

  • Advising promoters, developers and investors in acquisitions, disposals and investments for over 15 wind farm projects in Ireland, Mexico, Romania and the UK.

  • Advising Irish and international hotel owners and operators on the acquisition and operation of hotels in Ireland and the UK.

  • Advising a large Irish manufacturing group on the sale of manufacturing assets worth €90m.

  • Advising on corporate restructurings for Irish and international clients, including a number of listed companies.

  • Advising institutional investors and construction companies on a range of infrastructure projects and acquisitions including the Dublin Port Tunnel, the M17/M18 PPP Motorway, the Port Meridian LNG Terminal, the M50 Motorway and the DIT Grangegorman Campus.

  • Advising multi-national energy companies on their participation in oil and gas projects in Ireland, the UK, Africa and Asia.

  • Advising an Irish property investment company on its dual listing on the Irish Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange and on its subsequent secondary markets fund-raise via placing and open offer.
