Colin advises clients across various industries in both the public and private sectors on all aspects of the employment relationship, from recruitment and day-to-day management of the employment relationship to the termination of employment.

Colin advises on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, including contractual and policy matters, workplace investigations, dismissals, redundancies, disciplinary processes, performance management processes, employee relations issues, senior executive appointments and terminations, and he also advises on the employment aspects of corporate transactions.  Colin is based in our Galway office.

Experience

  • Advised a global investment advisory services company in a successful High Court application for an interim order against their former employee for unlawful possession of confidential information.
  • Advised a global software company in relation to a dispute resolution and mediation of a contentious unfair dismissal claim before the Workplace Relations Commission.
  • Advised an Irish financial institution in the successful defence of a Labour Court claim involving a creditor business in receivership in respect of a complex preliminary issue on jurisdiction arising in the context of the TUPE regulations.
  • Advised the liquidators of an insolvent employer entity in respect of a large-scale collective redundancy process and statutory information and consultation process.
  • Advising various clients in the successful defence of various workplace relations claims in relation to unfair dismissal, equality, terms of employment, payment of wages and penalisation.
  • Advising numerous international companies on the establishment of operations in Ireland, including advice on employee compensation and benefits, immigration issues, compliance and ongoing management issues.
