Shane acts for national and international businesses in a wide variety of commercial disputes and general litigation.

Shane’s practice has a particular focus on advising insurers and defending insured businesses in professional indemnity and other financial-lines matters.  Niche areas of expertise of his include solicitors’ professional indemnity insurance regulations and partnership law.

Shane’s commercial litigation experience includes acting for technology or “big tech” companies, acting in energy/oil-industry disputes and advising regarding contractual disputes.

  • Acting on behalf of Irish and foreign professional indemnity insurers in respect of claims against solicitors, architects, surveyors and engineers.
  • Advising on design-and-build or design-and-construct insurance policies used in the construction industry.
  • Defending professionals in relation to planning disputes and planning law.
  • Advising on business-interruption insurance issues.
  • Advising on cybercrime and cyber-insurance matters.
  • Advising professional indemnity insurers in respect of policy interpretation.
  • Acting for large employers and their insurers in respect of employer-liability claims.
  • Acting for insurers in coverage arbitrations.
  • Advising healthcare professionals, including doctors and chiropractors.
  • Acting before the Commercial Court concerning a dispute regarding a multi-million-dollar oil and gas discovery in North Africa.

  • Acting on behalf of a prominent international oil company in respect of disputes with Irish customers.

  • Acting in partnership disputes and advising on partnership law.

  • Acting for clients in successful mediation of commercial disputes.

  • Acting on behalf of major waste-collection companies regarding appeals to the conditions of single-region and multi-region waste-collection permits.

  • Advising corporate recipients of requests for mutual legal assistance (MLA)
