Guide to the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive -
MiFID
Welcome to the Guide to the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive
(MiFID) from
the Banking
and Financial Services Group at LK Shields Solicitors.
The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), Directive
2004/39/EC, will come into operation in Ireland on 1 November, 2007.
MiFID overhauls previous legislation in the European market for
financial services by promoting a high level of protection to both
existing and potential investors in order to bolster investor confidence
and heighten the performance of the financial services sector across
the European Economic Area.
The wide reaching scope and the obligations imposed by MiFID, will
be of particular interest to issuers, stockbrokers, portfolio managers,
corporate finance firms and derivative providers.
Our Guide to MiFID will be a useful reference point for those working
in financial services.
The Guide to MiFID has been divided into the following sections.
