Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI), a global medical technology company, is planning to establish a global manufacturing operation in Athlone, Co. Westmeath.

KCI is a leading designer and manufacturer of products for advanced wound-care and therapeutic surfaces. These products are used by medical professionals and carers across a variety of healthcare environments.

This investment by KCI, which is supported by IDA Ireland, was announced by the Irish Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment on 19 September, 2007.

It has been reported that this venture will create up to 250 new jobs over the next five years.
