Dexia and RBC Canada agreed in June 2005 to combine their global custody businesses, to be named RBS Dexia Services, with approximately US$1.8 trillion in client assets under custody, ranking them among the top 10 global custodians offering a complete range of investor services to institutions around the world.

A team from LK Shields Solicitors that included Fiona Thornton and Jennifer O'Neill assisted Royal Bank of Canada in connection with the Irish law aspects of this transaction.
