Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency

The Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency Unit is a
cross-departmental Unit with expertise in Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Business Law, Commercial Property and Banking and Financial Services.

The Unit's members provide advice on all aspects of corporate restructuring, insolvency and corporate recovery matters creating a team specific to each client's needs thereby ensuring that appropriate resources are available to design and implement commercial and effective solutions for each particular client and set of circumstances.

The Unit provides support and advice to insolvency and corporate restructuring practitioners, creditors, shareholders and directors on all corporate recovery and insolvency issues.

The Unit's members are continually involved in many of the country's high profile insolvencies including having recently acted on behalf of Citibank N.A., Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International Plc and Principal Life Assurance during the examinership of ISTC. Our Unit's expertise was also called upon by Nomura International Plc (Nomura) in respect of Structured Credit Company (SCC) on whose behalf we secured the appointment of a Provisional Liquidator. Subsequently we assisted Nomura during SCC's examinership. SCC and ISTC are arguably the most significant corporate insolvencies in Irish history. Our Unit's members were at the heart of both.

The Unit has been involved in a number of major restructurings (to include reorganizations of a number of major Irish corporates), take privates and business exits. We also continue to assist clients on asset sales of non-core business to restore value within groups of companies. Our clients are drawn from all industrial sectors including energy, manufacturing, property, telecommunications and technology. More recently we have seen an increase in the level of reorganisation in construction companies in distressed circumstances.

Over the years, we have established excellent relationships with other professional services firms in Dublin and we have been recognised and recommended by numerous independent directories and publications.
