The focus of the conference was to give participants an insight
into the thought processes of some of the key players in the energy
area. There was a frank and open discussion, which would be of interest
to all those planning for growth and investment in the Green Economy
in Ireland.
Eamon Ryan TD, Minister for Communications,
Energy and Natural Resources outlined his strategies
for the growth of a Green Economy.
Pat Gilroy, Managing Director of Dalkia
Ireland, gave his view on Ireland’s capability to be
a leading smart Green Economy. Dalkia has been involved in the development
and operation of combined heat and power plants and local district
heating schemes which will have a key role to play in the green
economy going forward.
Philip Daly, based on his experience as
Head of the Energy and Natural Resources Unit of LK Shields Solicitors,
gave an insight into what has been happening in the Green Economy
and where future growth opportunities may be expected.
John Mullins, CEO of Bord Gáis Éireann,
gave an informative talk on BGE’s long term renewables strategy.
He dealt with energy supply and referred to some of the recent headline
acquisitions carried out by BGE in the wind energy sector.
Marie Armstrong, Tax Partner in the Energy
and Projects Group of KPMG, discussed overcoming barriers
to entry to the Green Economy.
